Prof. Hartstein has a vast experience in treating patients with tearing or watery eyes.
There are many different reasons that people have tearing or watery eyes. Often, it can be related to eye allergies. Tearing may also occur when there is either a blockage or even narrowing of the tear duct drainage system.
There are several different procedures to correct an obstruction in the tear duct system:
- Simple dilation of the tear duct opening.
- Lower lid tightening.
- Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) lacrimal bypass surgery.
DCR surgery can be performed:
- Externally, via an incision between the eye and the nose which heals nearly invisibly.
- Endoscopically through the nose without an external incision.
Prof. Hartstein will determine the type of procedure to be performed during the office evaluation.
